Hello, and welcome to my ePortfolio!
I'm Catherine Hammond, an Instructional Designer with a strong commitment to creating meaningful, accessible, and research‑driven learning experiences. I am currently advancing my expertise through a Doctorate in Public Health Education & Instructional Technology at the American College of Education (expected 2026). I also hold an M.Ed. in Instructional Design & Technology (2023), which provides the foundation for my strategic, learner‑centered approach to design.
My Expertise
I specialize in crafting dynamic and impactful instructional materials, including course guides, assessments, and presentations. My proficiency in leading Learning Management Systems (Captivate, Articulate, Canvas) and design tools (Canva, Prezi, PowerPoint) allows me to create immersive learning experiences tailored to diverse audiences.
I apply industry-recognized instructional design models (ASSURE, ADDIE, Rapid, Kemp) and learning theories (cognitive learning theory, UDL, andragogy/adult learning, constructivism, behaviorism) to optimize knowledge retention and engagement. I also integrate evaluative methods (Chickering & Gamson, Kirkpatrick, Bloom’s taxonomy, Quality Matters standards) to measure effectiveness and ensure stakeholder investment.
Current Role & Continued Learning
Since 2022, I have served as the Junior Support Analyst for the Biomedical Community of Interest (CoI), where I apply analytical, instructional, and coordination skills to advance key initiatives. In this role, I work within the complexities of government, contracting, and DoW environments while contributing to project management efforts, supporting leadership priorities, and strengthening the team’s overall organizational effectiveness through administrative means and program support.
I am committed to continuous professional development, regularly engaging in MOOC coursework covering Social Behavior, Research & Leadership, xAPI, Microsoft 365 for Administrators, LMS Cloud, SCORM, Canvas, and Project Management.
Global & Multidisciplinary Experience
With a background in education, I have taught at La Universidad de Piura, Centro de Idiomas in Peru and Columbia College, English Language Program, in the United States, gaining valuable cross-cultural insights that enhance my instructional approach. My work experience spans customer service, project management, content creation, educational course development, website management, HTML coding, and CMS platforms, allowing me to integrate technology-driven solutions into instructional design.
